The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t wait until the new league year to make a small move at the quarterback position. Pittsburgh has signed former Miami Dolphins quarterback Skylar Thompson, per his agents at SportsTrust Advisors.
Thompson was drafted by Miami in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Kansas State. He started a playoff game for the Dolphins that season in a losing effort to the Buffalo Bills.
With the Steelers not having any quarterbacks on contracts going into 2025, it is heavily expected that Justin Fields will be brought back to be the starter. Thompson will likely be filling the Kyle Allen role as the team’s third quarterback.
