The 2-0 Pittsburgh Steelers are set to host their 2024 home opener against the 2-0 Los Angeles Chargers in an early-season battle between surprise unbeaten teams.

The Steelers have won consecutive road games to start the season. Their defense has allowed just one touchdown and given up just 16 points. They rank third in the NFL in defensive EPA and have allowed the second-fewest points in the NFL.

The Chargers are coming off wins against the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers, respectively. They lead the NFL in defensive EPA and have allowed the fewest points in the league.

Steelers vs. Chargers predictions

Point spread: PIT -2.5
O/U: 35.5
Moneyline: Steelers -105, Chargers -115

Pick against the spread: Steelers -2.5

Well, I said last week that I had little confidence in Pittsburgh defeating Denver, and I feel somewhat similar here. Don’t get me wrong, the Steelers are better than the Broncos and should have won, but it felt like a very typical Steelers trap game. This, however, feels like an even matchup. Both teams play tremendous defense and look to run the ball. But eventually, someone will need to make a splash play, and Justin Herbert is dealing with a high ankle sprain. I’ll take the Steelers to win and cover.

Point total pick: Under 35.5

It’s a Steelers game, so the under is always a good bet. It’s also a game between two teams that will play the clock control game while running heavily.
