The complete Pittsburgh Steelers 2025 draft class

The 2025 NFL Draft, after months of hype, predictions, and research, has finally concluded. At the end of the seventh round, seven college stars have joined the ranks of the 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers started off the draft by drafting defensive lineman Derrick Harmon out of Oregon, one of the top defenders in the draft class. After that, the team had to wait all the way until the third round for their next pick due to losing a second-rounder in the March trade for former Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf. Finally, pick 83 arrived, and the Steelers drafted Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson, a big, productive Big 10 runner who’s at his best in a wide zone scheme.

On Day 3, the Steelers made a somewhat surprising pick by taking Ohio State edge defender Jack Sawyer in the fourth round, whose high motor and stout run defense further bolster the Pittsburgh front seven. The team followed suit with their fifth-round pick, selecting a massive, 336-pound nose tackle in Iowa’s Yahya Black after a trade back to secure an extra seventh-round draft pick.

In the sixth round, the Steelers continued to follow the theme of teammates, grabbing Ohio State’s Will Howard, a big quarterback who led his team to a College Football Playoff National Championship victory in 2024.

In the final round, the Steelers selected linebacker Carson Bruener out of Washington, the son of former Steelers’ tight end and current scout Mark Bruener. Pittsburgh’s final pick was cornerback Donte Kent, a compact defender and punt returner with blazing, sub-4.4 speed — also the first non-Big Ten player selected.

The Steelers’ goal for the 2025 draft? It’s pretty clear: Stop the run.
