Steelers news: Pittsburgh signs former Texans WR Robert Woods

After avoiding the wide receiver position in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Steelers signed veteran pass-catcher Robert Woods to a one-year contract on April 28. The move was first reported by Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the deal is worth $2 million.

Woods has been in the NFL since 2013. The 6’0, 193-pound wide receiver has 8,233 career receiving yards to go along with 38 touchdowns.

In 2024 with the Houston Texans, Woods logged 20 receptions for 203 yards and no touchdowns. He had back-to-back 1,000-plus-yard seasons in 2018 and 2019 with the Los Angeles Rams.

Considered one of the top blocking wide receivers in the league over his career, Woods provides a veteran presence to the Steelers young receiving room.

Woods has averaged 686 yards per season over his 12-year career, and he projects as an underneath Z/slot receiver in Pittsburgh. Woods ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash as a rookie and suffered a torn ACL in 2021; he enters the 2025 season at 33 years old.
