Multiple NFL teams are getting new threads in 2025, including several squads that will be debuting new helmets. Per Andrew Lind, the Steelers are set to have a new secondary helmet in 2025.
“According to multiple sources, the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Washington Commanders will all unveil new alternate helmets this summer,” Lind said on X.
Many Steelers fans have speculated that Pittsburgh is bringing back the yellow helmets in which the team donned as part of their throwback uniform in the late 2000s.
The Steelers first wore those uniforms with that helmet in 2007 on a Monday night where Ben Roethlisberger went scorched Earth against the Baltimore Ravens. Roethlisberger threw five touchdown passes in the first half of the game, and James Harrison had his breakout performance with 3.5 sacks.
The Steelers haven’t had an alternate helmet since the NFL began allowing teams to have two shells again, so this will be a welcome addition to their wardrobe.
