Florio: ‘Safe bet’ Aaron Rodgers signs with Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be inching closer to signing the final piece of their 2025 quarterback room and finding their starter for the season. Aaron Rodgers visited the Steelers’ facility on the South Side late last week, which seemed to indicate the next step forward in getting a potential deal done. And according to Mike Florio, a deal for Rodgers and the Steelers is a “safe bet.”

“As one source in the general vicinity of those who would be in position to know said Sunday, it’s a ‘safe bet’ that quarterback Aaron Rodgers eventually will sign with the Steelers,” Florio writes.

Rodgers spent more than six hours at the facility during his visit where he reportedly met with general manager Omar Khan, head coach Mike Tomlin, and offensive coordinator Arthur Smtih. Should he decide to sign with Pittsburgh, Rodgers would round out a quarterback room that also features Mason Rudolph in his second stint with the Steelers and former Miami Dolphins quarterback Skylar Thompson.

While the New York Jets had a rough 5-12 campaign in 2024, Rodgers had a very solid personal season, tallying 28 touchdown passes to just 11 interceptions. While those numbers may not be four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers numbers, he is still in the upper half of starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Will he be good enough to help the Steelers end the eight-year playoff drought? Time will tell should he decide to don the black and gold.
