Person close to Aaron Rodgers expects him to join Steelers soon

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been connected to Aaron Rodgers since the start of the new league year. As soon as Justin Fields signed with the New York Jets, Pittsburgh seemingly shifted all of its focus toward the four-time MVP, who was widely expected to be let go by the Jets.

It’s the wide consensus that Rodgers will join the Steelers, but not just by the media – someone close to Rodgers, as well. Rodgers’ biographer, Ian O’Connor joined 93.7 The Fan and gave his thoughts on why Rodgers hasn’t signed with the Steelers yet.

“I just think verbally behind the scenes, not that he guaranteed it, but he’s told them, ‘Listen, I’m gonna play for you. I just don’t want to go there and then miss part of mandatory minicamp because of my personal issues. I’m pretty sure they’re gonna be solved by the end of May, at least in my satisfaction where I can give you my all.’ So that’s where I think he is,” O’Connor said.

O’Connor added that he thinks Pittsburgh is the “perfect place” for Rodgers to end his career.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk pointed out a similar thought, saying Rodgers chose the “lesser of two distractions,” staying unsigned until he was completely ready rather than signing, missing team activities, and causing a media firestorm because of it. Should that be the case, it does make sense, even if the constant speculation got under the skin of fans.
