The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without one of their newest signings for the 2025 season. Tight end Donald Parham suffered a torn Achilles during OTAs on Tuesday, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Parham had career highs in catches (27), yards (285), and touchdowns (4) in 2024 with the Chargers and signed a one-year deal with the Steelers this offseason.
Pittsburgh has been centered around trade rumors involving Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith for the last several days, and with the injury to Parham, those talks may heat up even more. The Steelers, of course, still have Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington, though the latter is used largely as a blocking presence. Should they want to get deeper at the position while also acquiring a versatile pass-catcher, Smith would make sense – even more now that Pittsburgh is down a tight end for the year.
