Report: Steelers WR George Pickens showed up late for Christmas game vs. Chiefs

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ season came to a crashing halt, losing five straight games for the first time since 2009 and going from 10-3 to eliminated in the wild card round. And while it’s unlikely that Mike Tomlin is going anywhere, I wouldn’t say the same about George Pickens. According to Mike DeFabo of The Athletic, Pickens showed up late for the Steelers’ Week 17 game vs. the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas day.

“When [Pickens] was finally healthy, how did he respond? By showing up late for the Christmas Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs,” DeFabo writes. “Tomlin asks players to report to games at least two hours before kickoff. On Dec. 25, Pickens walked through the media entrance an hour and 25 minutes before kickoff. That was after inactive players were announced.”

At some point, enough has to be enough with Pickens. The constant drama and behavioral issues stem back to last season. The subliminal messaging on social media, showing up late for meetings, the on-field tantrums – enough. If I had to guess, Pickens has played his last down with the Steelers.
