Steelers injury report: CB Donte Jackson pops back up as ‘limited’ either a back injury

New year, new injury updates out of the South Side for the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of their season finale — a Week 18 rematch against the Cincinnati Bengals. The game is set for Saturday at 8 p.m. ET with plenty of playoff implications on the line, as the Steelers fight to secure an AFC North with a win and Ravens loss, meanwhile, the Bengals look to secure a playoff berth to cap off their red hot streak to end the season.

With the second practice of the week in the rear view mirror, here’s a look at the full Steelers injury report and practice updates for Wednesday, January 1.

There were a few changes from Tuesday’s practice report to open up the New Year, but most notable was the return of cornerback Donte Jackson to the injury report, dealing with a nagging back injury. After being left off of Tuesday’s report, he was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice. He’d missed Week 16 with the injury before playing a full allotment of snaps (94% of defensive snaps) in Week 17, totaling four solo tackles last week against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In terms of the good news, RB Jaylen Warren returned to a full practice after being limited on Tuesday with a rib injury. Warren’s dealt with several bumps and bruises over the course of the 2024 season and has had an increased workload over the past two weeks, with 16+ touches for 92+ in back to back games. His upgrade to full participation is a great sign of his availability for Saturday. Also upgraded to full participation from a limited status was WR Ben Skowrenek, who missed last week with a hip injury, a key contributor on special teams.

Three names worth watching through the remainder of the season include LB Cole Holcomb, WR Roman Wilson and DL Logan Lee, all looking to make their returns from the injured reserve or PUP lists, having had their 21-day practice windows opened up Tuesday.

Another name worth noting ahead of this week was CB Joey Porter Je., who returned to a full practice Tuesday, dealing with a knee injury. It seems he responded well enough to the workload, as he suffered no setbacks on Wednesday.
