Steelers news: Pittsburgh has all of their heavy hitters in attendance for first Senior Bowl practices

The 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl practices kick off Tuesday, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and other NFL teams earning their first look at the all-star participants taking live reps against one another ahead of Saturday’s game. And as Steelers beat reporter Nick Farabaugh has shared, Pittsburgh has a heavy presence in the mix early in the week to observe the first practices.

It’s not just GM Omar Khan and HC Mike Tomlin, in the mix, either. The coaching staff is well represented across the board, Farabaugh shares, with Director of Pro Scouting Sheldon White, Director of Player Scouting Mark Sadowski, OC Arthur Smith and DC Teryl Austin all among those in attendance, Farabaugh shares.

Steelers personnel I’ve seen at Senior Bowl:

Mike Tomlin, Omar Khan, Teryl Austin, Arthur Smith, Sheldon White, Mark Sadowski.

Likely more, but the heavy hitters are out here per usual.

The importance of significant representation at the Senior Bowl and the value of the event in the scouting process can’t be overstated, providing a particularly insightful glimpse at some of the top draft prospects competing with not just top talent at their own position, but facing top talent on the other side of the ball.

In 2024, 110 Senior Bowl participants were selected in the NFL draft. The Steelers, specifically, selected four Senior Bowl participants within the top 100 picks, including OT Troy Fautanu, C Zach Frazier, WR Roman Wilson and LB Payton Wilson. There’s no doubt that the Steelers’ thorough representation is a net positive, especially coming off a largely successful draft, with several needs to address, including quarterback, wide receiver, cornerback and running back among the top to consider.
