Star outside linebacker T.J. Watt has been named Steelers MVP by his teammates for the second straight year. It’s his fifth time winning the award, a team record.

That record is even more impressive considering the number of Hall of Famers that have played for the Steelers organization.

Watt has had a down year in terms of his usual high sack numbers, but he’s still been one of the best defenders in the NFL, with 61 total tackles, 11.5 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, and six forced fumbles in 2024. He’s second in the NFL in tackles for loss and first in forced fumbles.

With the NFL playoffs just around the corner, the Steelers will need an MVP-level performance from Watt to spark what has been a struggling defense as of late.

Although he’s several sacks behind the NFL lead, Watt is still a favorite to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award this season. If he wins, it would be his second time earning the honor.

Until then, Watt’s record-setting fifth team MVP award is just another highlight in his extensive Steelers legacy.
