Steelers sign former New England Patriots DT

The Pittsburgh Steelers have added a defensive tackle to their roster. Pittsburgh has signed former New England Patriots defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale, his agent Blake Baratz announced.

Ekuale started 16 games for the Patriots in 2024, his best season as a pro. He registered 36 tackles and two sacks from the interior of the defensive line. He also had 26 stops, PFF’s stat that tracks where tackles are made to decide if it was a winning play for the defense.

Ekuale joins a defensive line that includes Cam Heyward, Keeanu Benton, Dean Lowry, Montravius Adams, Logan Lee, Jacob Slade, and Domenique Davis. In terms of what the Steelers do now at the position, it feels like this could take defensive lineman out of the equation in the 2025 NFL Draft. It certainly shouldn’t, but knowing how this team operates, it will. Signing a full-time starter to go next to Heyward and Benton feels like they are done adding major pieces to the group for 2025.
