Steelers snap counts: Cam Sutton overtakes Beanie Bishop Jr.; other Week 13 takeaways

Welcome back to Steelers snap counts following a Week 13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Steelers Week 13 snap count takeaways

Despite getting the start, Mike Williams played just 24% of offensive snaps, even less than last week’s 28%. Once again, he didn’t even see a target in the passing game.
Welcome back, Ben Skowronek. After dropping to just 3% of offensive snaps last week, he went up to 33% against the Bengals, and played well.
Najee Harris overtook Jaylen Warren in offensive snap counts this week, 50% to 38%. Cordarrelle Patterson recorded an additional 15%.
Minkah Fitzpatrick recorded three offensive snaps in victory formation, while Justin Fields replaced Russell Wilson for two snaps at quarterback.
In his second game back from injury, MyCole Pruitt logged 38% of the offensive snaps. It’s less than last week’s 46%, but Pruitt is still a sizable part of the Steelers’ offense.
The biggest change this week was Cam Sutton playing 72% of defensive snaps to Beanie Bishop Jr.’s 11% (just six defensive snaps). Against the Bengals, at least, Sutton took over as the team’s primary slot cornerback.
Against a pass-heavy offense, the Steelers used Payton Wilson (56% of defensive snaps) more than Elandon Roberts (33%).
Nick Herbig and T.J. Watt were the clear starters at outside linebacker against the Bengals, but Preston Smith still saw a respectable 39% of defensive snaps. With Alex Highsmith expected to be healthy next week, Pittsburgh’s distribution of snaps will be interesting to watch.
Isaiahh Loudermilk played a whopping 21 special teams snaps on Sunday.
Payton Wilson is still playing the most special teams snaps of Pittsburgh’s starting-level players, logging 17 special teams plays against the Bengals (52%).
The Steelers’ offensive to defensive plays ratio this week: 66:57.

Making the most of it award

There are a few good candidates this week, but none more so than quarterback Justin Fields, who recorded a game-icing run on one of his two snaps all day. If he keeps it up, he’ll be a frontrunner for this award every week.
