The Pittsburgh Steelers still have a big question mark at the quarterback position as they continue to wait out Aaron Rodgers and his decision. They brought back Mason Rudolph as a way to hedge their bets, knowing that he can step in and start if need be.
Even if the Steelers do sign Rodgers, though, Daniel Jeremiah believes Pittsburgh will take a quarterback in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft in the form of Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss.
“The Steelers’ plan at quarterback is not completely clear at the moment,” Jeremiah writes. “Even if they were to land 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers, they would still need a long-term option at the position, so they take another swing here with Dart.”
Should the Steelers do this, and still land Rodgers in free agency, the plan would obviously be to start Rodgers for the year and then when 2026 rolls around, give the keys to Jaxson Dart after a year in the system in hopes he can become the franchise quarterback they have been searching for since Ben Roethlisberger retired.
Dart has been surging up draft boards throughout this entire process, as at least one quarterback does every year. He has a big arm, but there are questions regarding the offense he played in and if he can translate to the NFL level.
