The new hot trend seems to be making the Mt. Rushmore for particular categories rather than giving more traditional rankings. Recently, the Locked On Podcast network had its hosts reveal the Mt. Rushmores for their specific teams, which sparked an idea to do it here for the Steelers.

With that said, I put together what I believe to be the best Mt. Rushmore for Pittsburgh, so let’s dive into it.

DE Joe Greene

Greene is the best player in the history of the Steelers. He was drafted in 1969, making him the first member of the dynasty to arrive in Pittsburgh. He was a 10-time Pro Bowl selection, a four-time First-Team All-Pro selection, and was the best player on the greatest defense of all time that won four Super Bowls.

LB Jack Lambert

If there was ever a perfect face of the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was Jack Lambert. The two missing front teeth, the mustache, and the middle bar going down the facemask, Lambert is one of the best and most physically dominant players of all time. He’s a nine-time Pro Bowler and a six-time First-Team All-Pro.

QB Ben Roethlisberger

Roethlisberger holds just about every passing record in franchise history. From the moment he came to Pittsburgh, all the Steelers did was win. He went 13-0 in the regular season as a rookie and led the Steelers to the AFC Championship Game. The following year, the Steelers won the Super Bowl. The Steelers won two championships with Roethlisberger under center and appeared in three. He is top 10 all-time in passing touchdowns and passing yards and is the best quarterback in franchise history.

S Troy Polamalu

Some may say a head coach (probably Chuck Noll) should be on the mountain, and that’s a completely valid argument to make. If we’re only doing players, though, I’d put Polamalu here. He is unlike any player to ever play the game, which is the best compliment you can give a player. He is a former Defensive Player of the Year, an eight-time Pro Bowler, and a member of the Hall of Fame’s All-2000s Team.
